The Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, is an economic and political union of 10 states in Southeast Asia. However, despite being a political union, it has its unique diplomatic engagement with its member states, known as the ASEAN Way. The ASEAN Way follows the principle of non-interference among its member states, which means that member countries cannot interfere with the internal issues of the other member states. Some manifestations of the ASEAN Way include member states not interfering with the current dispute in the West Philippine Sea and not interfering during the 2021 Myanmar coup d'état.
